THIS evening's Isle of Wight County Press Challenge Cup final at Westwood Park, Cowes, has been postponed.
The match between holders Whitecroft and Barton Sports and Shanklin was called off this morning after host club, Cowes Sports, deemed the pitch too soft to play on.
Isle of Wight Football Association honorary secretary, Andrew Justice, said: "The groundsman said a game tonight would cut the pitch up too badly for Cowes Sports to play their crucial league match against Horndean on Saturday, so you can't blame them for making this decision."
Mr Justice said a new date for the final has yet to be decided, but it will likely be within the next two to three weeks, with so many other cup finals due to be played shortly.
