IW ROAD Runners stalwart Steve Hickman reached an incredible landmark — his 150th marathon.
He completed the IW Marathon on Sunday, the event which brought about his 100th marathon four years ago.
After chalking up almost 4,000 marathon miles in his size tens, Steve’s bug for running stemmed from a gym membership in 1999 to combat being overweight.
By 2001, Steve ran his first marathon — one of the hardest on the circuit — the Snowdonia Marathon.
After that experience, Steve soon bashed out marathons like they were 10ks — all over the world, from the United States to Zurich, and from London (completed five times) to Brighton.
Steve, always quick to give others advice, replied to a question of how to train for a marathon by saying: “It’s easy. Run a marathon.”
