THE annual Tea at the Towers party in aid of St James' Church, Yarmouth, has raised around £3,000.

Visitors flocked to the Isle of Wight event which is held in the grounds of the home of John Caulcutt in the High Street.

They were entertained by the Key Notes Barber Shop group and the Brass Monkeys while roving magician, Colin Daines, thrilled the children with tricks and making balloon animals.

Rev Richard Harding, of St James' Church, said: "It was a wonderful afternoon and we were very thankful to John for letting us use his grounds and the entertainment which was excellent.

"Everybody worked so hard to make it a success.

"We had a stall which explained the amount of work we have done on building repairs to the church over the last few years and our plans for the future.

"Our next target is to raise £30,000 to redecorate the inside of the church and continue to complete the stonework on its tower."

Stalls included books, bottle tombola, homemade baking, new to you and raffle as well as refreshments and a pets' corner.
