A BOMB from the Second World War was found off Wootton Creek this morning (Thursday).
The three and a half foot shell was found when it was caught in a local fisherman's net.
The fishermen lifted it up but decided to keep it in the water and mark the location with a buoy, before calling the Coastguard at 11.20am.
From the description, the Coastguard decided it was not a major issue and informed the EOD (explosive ordnance disposal).
The EOD department said they would handle the situation tomorrow (Friday) or Saturday as it is not a great concern and is away from any major shipping routes.
UPDATE:
The fisherman who found the bomb, Wayne Long, said: "We have found loads of bombs over the years while fishing.
"We trawled this one up in our net."
