DIG out your blazers and fancy hats — the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary is hosting a Day at the Races.

The fundraiser takes place at the Wroxall animal sanctuary on Sunday (September 16), with fun for all the family including a carrot and spoon race, a mum and dad derby, and a Shetland pony slalom.

There will also be live music, market stalls and a Victorian funfair from 10am to 4pm.

It has been organised to say 'thank you' to all those who have visited and supported the sanctuary throughout the year.

It costs £550,000 a year to run the charity and take care of the donkeys.

Carol Foote, business manager and legacy officer at the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary, said: "Without the support we receive from Islanders, visitors and supporters, we simply couldn't provide a home and the care that these very loveable animals need."
