AN ELDERLY Isle of Wight woman was rescued by the crew of Bembridge RNLI Lifeboat this afternoon after she slipped and banged her head and chest at No Man's Land Fort in the Solent.

The Alfred Albert Williams (Tamar All-Weather Lifeboat 16-17) was launched at around 4.45pm following a request by Solent Coastguard.

On arrival at the fort, two crew members landed to assess her condition and recommend the best option for getting her off the fort so that she could be checked over in hospital.

Having discovered she lived on the Isle of Wight it was decided to transfer her to the Alfred Albert Williams and bring her back to the offshore boathouse to meet with an Ambulance.

Two more crew were landed on the fort with a stretcher and once she was strapped in, the four crew then carried her down to the lifeboat.

The 'Alfred Albert Williams' then returned to the offshore boathouse where the elderly guest was lifted off in the stretcher to wait for an ambulance.
