From Nina Ogden, Niton:

I would like to share with you something rather lovely that happened today when I went to the brilliant Wolverton Manor Show with my friend and her new husband.

We came upon a stall for Newport Steel Fabrication, and my friend paused to look at a beautiful steel rose. My friend's mum died recently from cancer and as her middle name was ‘Rose’ I asked my friend if she wanted it to put on her mum's grave, to which she nodded yes.

My friend is disabled and funds are tight and even though the rose was very reasonably priced, she couldn’t afford it and so put it down.

As we were walking away someone came running up to us and handed my friend the rose saying that the stall holder had overheard our conversation and wanted her to have the rose anyway.

We were both moved to tears by this kindness and were once again reminded of how wonderful the people of the Isle of Wight are.
