THE renowned — and sometimes controversial — historian, David Starkey, is coming to the Isle of Wight.

He will give a talk at Shanklin Theatre, at 2.30pm next Sunday (November 4), entitled Henry VIII: The First Brexiteer?

It explores the idea that Henry invented British uniqueness and the doctrine of parliamentary sovereignty, drawing comparisons between the Reformation and Brexit.

Cambridge historian Starkey is well known for his appearances on BBC One's Question Time and Radio Four's The Moral Maze, and for television shows including Monarchy and The Last Word.
