AFTER a string of Isle of Wight pubs called their final last orders, Island pub lovers finally have some good news.

The County Press can reveal that popular Cowes pub, The Pier View, is set to reopen under the management of the experienced publican, Chris Troup.

Mr Troup has run The Anchor, also on Cowes High Street, for nearly 30 years and both pubs are owned by Ei Group, formerly known as Enterprise Inns.

A manager at The Anchor said: "There's definitely wealth to the rumours that we're taking over the Pier View.

"The bosses are keeping it close to their chest over what the new pub will look like, but it definitely won't be the same as before. We're doing a huge refurb."

The manager told the County Press they hoped to be open and running by Christmas.
