The Friends of Freshwater Fire Station shared these pictures of the scene on social media.

They posted: "Freshwater’s H79P1 and H79W1, as well as appliances from Ryde, Newport, Ventnor and East Cowes, worked together this afternoon on a large cleared woodland fire near Brook.

"The area measuring around 50 metres by 80 metres on a steep slope was extinguished by crews using main jets.

"Crews worked incredibly hard on the rough terrain to prevent the fire spreading to tree lined fields and wildlife fields near by as well as protecting the residential property above the slope."
