TWO men involved in a disturbance in Freshwater early on Saturday which resulted in one sparking a major rescue alert after he went into the sea at Totland will have no further action taken against them by police.

Officers were called at 5.17am on November 3 to a report of two men causing a disturbance at a home on Tennyson Road, Freshwater.

Police were deployed and conducted a search of the area after it was reported the men had left.

A 37-year-man was located at Totland Bay and arrested on suspicion of harassment, but has since been released with no further action.

Meanwhile, a 31-year-old man went into the sea prompting a rescue effort involving coastguards. A police helicopter and the coastguard helicopter was also deployed. The man was later taken to hospital for treatment and was also arrested on on suspicion of using violence to secure entry to a premises.

Both men were subsequently released from custody with no further action being taken by police against them.
