ISLE of Wight artists have painted pictures of poppies for an exhibition this weekend.

Members of Cowes Art Group, some inspired by their relatives' wartime experiences, will exhibit their paintings at Gurnard Village Hall on Sunday (November 11) to commemorate the Armistice centenary.

The paintings, and other arts and crafts, will be available to buy, priced between 50p and £20.

All proceeds will be donated to the Royal British Legion.

The exhibition will be open from 12pm to 3pm.

Tea and homemade cakes will be available.

Other events taking place during the day include a parade through the village. poppy themed yarn bombing, the lighting of a beacon at Gurnard bay and a service at All Saints Church.
