ISLE of Wight environmental campaigners have joined forces.

Members of Greenpeace, Transition Island, Frack Free Isle of Wight, Cyclewight, Friends of the Earth and the Green Party held an Island Planet Action Day on Saturday (November 3).

They gathered in St James' Square, Newport, to speak to shoppers about environmental issues.

One of the organisers, Tanja Rebel, said: "We met up as the Climate Coalition to spread awareness of the planetary crisis we find ourselves in.

"Leaflets were handed out and a meeting is planned where are all welcome — regardless of affiliation — to come and discuss options for further action, locally as well as globally."

The meeting will be held at the Riverside Centre, Newport, at 7.30pm on Monday, November 19.
