IT MAY be what we really really want, but speculation that the Spice Girls could be performing at Isle of Wight Festival 2019 has been dismissed by festival boss John Giddings.

The iconic '90s pop band announced a reunion tour yesterday with a series of dates in June with a gap around the Isle of Wight Festival, prompting speculation that the Spice Girls had left the dates free in order to perform at the festival.

However, when the County Press contacted Mr Giddings, who is also the managing director of Solo Music Agency, he said: "It's just a rumour. We're involved in the tour but it's nothing to do with the festival. I haven't even asked them."

The Spice Girls, minus Victoria Beckham, will be performing their first tour for a decade, with six stadium dates in June.

Other tour date announcements have had people guessing at who might headline at Isle of Wight Festival 2019, including Pink, Arctic Monkeys, Bon Jovi and Eagles.

Mr Giddings said: "I would love the Arctic Monkeys to play. I asked them ages ago but I haven't heard back from them.

"I'm not going to talk about artists. It's too dangerous. When you deny it, no-one believes you anyway."

Isle of Wight Festival takes place from June 13 to 16. Mr Giddings said said early bird tickets were expected to sell out by Friday.
