A GREAT life 'on the buses' was celebrated by former and current bus and coach drivers at an end of season party at the Isle of Wight Bus and Coach Museum.

Around 35 staff, some retired and some still working, enjoyed a few hours at the former Southern Vectis depot in Ryde remembering the highlights and amusing tales from their careers.

The majority of people attending the get-together were Southern Vectis staff including some whose home depot had been Ryde.

Traffic engineering and office staff from Newport and people from Fountain Coaches were also represented, as was Wightbus, the former Isle of Wight Council bus operator.

People who worked in every decade from the 1940s onwards were represented at the event which took place on October 28.

It is hoped that the reunion can become a regular event at the museum.
