THERE was something for all railway enthusiasts, young and old, at the Wight Model Railway Group's WightRail 2018 exhibition.

Eleven layouts, both local and from the mainland, were on display as well as a number of model traders and a 'train doctor' who was on hand to help with any problems modellers may have with their locomotives.

Among the show highlights was a model of Cowes station in 'N' gauge depicting the railway as it was before the line between Cowes and Newport closed in 1966 and a 'grandad's layout' produced by members of the club showing how railway layouts used to be in days gone by.

The show, staged at Medina Leisure Centre, Newport, even featured a 'Z' gauge layout based on trains in Germany which could fit inside a briefcase.

Other highlights included an interactive layout where visitors could try their luck at shunting trains.
