AS PART of the NHS Restart a Heart campaign, families from Ryde Academy learned how to administer emergency first aid, including how to perform CPR and to use the automated defibrillator.

The event, led by Sally from the Ambulance Training and Community Response Service, was held as part of one of the regular family learning events the academy holds.

Participants learnt how to assess an emergency situation and what action to take in order to, potentially, save a life.

A Year 11 student, Calvin, said: “The family learning was great fun. We learnt how to spot a person who needs help, how to perform CPR and how to use a defibrillator safely.”

There is a community defibrillator outside reception at Ryde Academy.
