POIGNANT remembrance services were held across the Isle of Wight yesterday (Sunday) to mark one hundred years since the end of the First World War.

Armistice Day ceremonies took place in all the towns and parishes across the Island as the nation fell silent to mark the centenary of the signing of the armistice that ended the First World War — on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

Crowds of people gathered at all the major services to pay their respect to those who died during war.
