COWES gained a draw in a tightly contested match at Westwood, Newport gained three points away at Whitchurch and the Vics got hammered against Laverstock and Ford this weekend.

The Yachtsmen played their best squad on Saturday when they hosted Tadley Calleva at Westwood Park.

For the first time since becoming manager, Vic Sanders could play John McKie, Conor White, Jack Broomfield and Callum Chase in his starting line up.

In dreadful conditions, the teams played a fairly even match — with many chances from Jez Conway, Garry Bricknell and Jimmy Wykes — until the 85th minute.

Conway scored a penalty after the Cowes right back was fouled in the box, giving the Yachtsmen the lead.

Within two minutes however, Tadley substitute Sam Hamilton ran through the home defence before slotting in the equaliser past Ed Hatt at his near post, and the match ended 1-1.

In division one, Newport travelled to Whitchurch United on a wet and wild Saturday and came away with all three points to continue their league winning run.

The Port gained a great start when on seven minutes, Jared Cousins outpaced his marker and pulled the ball back for Liam Triggs to fire home and Newport did not concede for the rest of the match resulting in a 1-0 win.

East Cowes Vics did not fair so well however, when their away game against Laverstock and Ford resulted in a 7-0 loss for the Vics.
