A POPPY Appeal collection box has been stolen from All Saints' Church in Ryde.

Organisers of the Poppy Appeal said the box would have almost certainly been full with a lot of money after the packed remembrance service at the church on Sunday.

Lynn Ashby, co-ordinator of the Poppy Appeal in Ryde, said: "I was so angry, it took my breath away.

"I am absolutely disgusted that someone would do that. The church had two big services, so there should have been a lot of money in it.

"You are stealing from people who served your country and suffered for you.

"This is why charity boxes are chained down in shops these days.

"People just don't seem to have any conscience."
