THE IMPRESSIVE flagship of the Sea Cadets, TS Royalist, has spent the night in Yarmouth Harbour.

Around 24 cadets and the adult crew visited Yarmouth yesterday and will be setting sail again today around lunchtime.

The TS Royalist is a training brig that takes cadets on sea voyages to learn sailing skills.

Sea cadets often visit Yarmouth Harbour, but the TS Royalist has not visited for a number of years, a harbour spokesman said.

The vessel, designed by Acubens, was built during 2014/2015 at the Spanish shipyard of Astilleros Gondan.

A spokesperson for the Sea Cadets said: "For many young people, a voyage is a life changing experience, leaving them with a profound sense of achievement, self-worth and the confidence to take on the challenges of adult life.

"The Marine Society and Sea Cadets believe that a voyage at sea gives young people critical life skills, helping to make them leaders, seafarers and guardians of our communities in the future."
