PARENTS, friends and dignitaries assembled at the Isle of Wight Studio School, East Cowes, to celebrate the achievements of its students.

Following a champagne reception, awards were presented by chair of governors and chief executive of Red Funnel, Kevin George, assistant principal of the Isle of Wight College, Rowland White, and chief executive of the chamber of commerce, Steven Holbrook, and Cllr Karl Love.

An array of awards were presented, including academic progress and vocational awards, as well as awards for charity work, ambassador award, exemplar award and work placement awards.

The Robert Hooke Award for science was presented to Callum Dale, 16. The Barnes Wallis Award for maths was received by Toby Jones, 16. The Minghella Award for English was presented to Elizabeth Lockyer, 16.

The evening concluded with a keynote speech by IW High Sheriff, Gioia Minghella-Giddens.
