YARMOUTH'S Wednesday Girls, who meet on a Thursday, have raised a total of £1,425 from their annual Christmas fair at the Community Hall of Yarmouth and District.

The group of friends have met each week since 2001 for a chat and a gossip and have raised more than £25,000 for good causes while doing their craftwork.

Locals flocked to the hall to pick up bargains which included knitwear, toys, Christmas decorations, cards and crackers, aprons and books as well as taking part in a raffle and refreshments.

Sue Renwick, who hosts their meetings, said: "We raised just over £1,000 on the day but we had sold some of our stuff in the build-up, so the final figure was £1,425.

"It was marvellous to see so many people turn up, buy some bargains and have a really enjoyable morning.

"It was also great to see so many of our local friends from the town to pop in and support us."

This year's money will benefit the Community Hall of Yarmouth and District, Yarmouth Guides and Scouts Hut and the Royal British Legion.
