NEARLY £1,000 was raised for Children in Need by the team at Newport's Asda on Friday.

At the store, a Pudsey raffle, a guess the name of the unicorn and 'wearing pyjamas for Pudsey'-day was celebrated through the store, while a tombola, lucky dip and a Christmas decoration craft session was held in the foyer.

Clare Jones, community champion at Asda, said: "The best bit of the was our visit from Pudsey Bear. Many customers and children managed to get lots of selfies with Pudsey and donated to the fantastic cause."

Pudsey made multiple visits around Newport on the day, especially to the lucky children of Barton Primary School and Barton nursery class.

Clare added: "A fantastic day was had by both customers and colleagues and we raised a marvellous £984."
