A MAN swiped a set of temporary traffic lights and lugged them through a town and up a hill — only to be forced to walk the lights back to the site by a policeman.

A spokesperson from HSS Hire and Traffic Management said the man had stolen them in the middle of the night and taken them some distance before being caught.

They posted on Facebook: "Excellent approach to policing by Hampshire Constabulary.

"The Policeman makes the guy walk the traffic light all the way back to the site — and then arrests him."
