VANDALS damaged branches and cut the lights off Ryde Town Council's Christmas tree.
The tree, which was in the town square by the large Co-op, was vandalised on Tuesday.
Ryde Town Council posted on Facebook: "With such positive feedback coming back from the community regarding the Town's Christmas trees it is such a shame that we have to report that the tree in Town Square was vandalised.
"The tree was damaged and some of the lights cut off."
A spokesperson from Isle of Wight Police said the incident was believed to have taken place some time between 8am on Tuesday, December 4 and 8am on Wednesday, December 5.
