HMS Queen Elizabeth sailed back into Portsmouth this afternoon, after 114 days away at sea.

The 65 thousand tonne warship returned after nine weeks of flight trials in the US, during which F35 jets landed on her deck for the first time.

In the two months of trials, there were 400 take-offs and landings.

The £3 billion aircraft carrier first arrived in Portsmouth on August 16, 2017.

The biggest warship ever built in Britain, HMS Elizabeth has a flight deck 280 metres long and 70 metres wide — enough space for three football pitches.
