A CHRISTMAS event to raise funds for an admiral nurse at the hospice will take place this weekend.

Visitors to the Wishing Well gin distillery will have the chance to enjoy a glass of Christmas cheer and buy Christmas 'goodies'.

Lucinda Goodhew will also be showing off her collection of jewellery, which will be for sale, together with a collection of designer clothes and unusual Christmas presents.

As a dress designer, Lucinda designed for HRH Princess Margaret.

Lucinda will be donating a percentage of the proceeds to Dementia UK, to help fund more admiral nurses on the Island.

The lunch-time gathering at Pondwell will take place from 11am to 3pm on Saturday.

Organiser Sally Grylls said: "There is no charge to join us.

"However, your presence and ideas will be greatly welcomed. So do join us and gather your friends for gin and nibbles at the Wishing Well!"

Admiral nurses offer a life-line to everyone who maybe facing the challenge of some form of memory loss.

There are currently five admiral nurses on the Island, and £50,000 is needed to fund one at Mountbatten.
