TESCO has apologised to customers after the entire home delivery service went down across the Isle of Wight yesterday (11).

Service has now resumed but no deliveries took place at all yesterday, and not all customers were notified.

One customer was given a £20 gift card after Tesco failed to tell her that her delivery of £90 worth of groceries had been cancelled.

She told the County Press: "My slot was booked for 7pm to 8pm and by 8.30pm it still hadn't arrived. I thought I had better ring to see what was happening. "I couldn't believe it when they said my order had been cancelled. I just couldn't believe they hadn't the means to let me know, either by email, text or a phone call. It was terrible customer service.

"I was waiting to do the children's packed lunches, and I had ordered lots of food ready for an early Christmas meal I was preparing later in the week, so it was really inconvenient to be let down late at night with no warning."

A Tesco spokesperson said: "We experienced problems with our Dotcom delivery system at our Ryde Extra store yesterday which affected deliveries to customers on the Isle of Wight.

"The system has now been fixed and orders scheduled for today onwards will arrive as planned. All affected customers will receive a full refund and we are very sorry for the inconvenience that this fault has caused."
