COWES chip shop Corries Cabin is again celebrating Christmas with special festive additions to its menu.

Battered sprouts are back by popular demand and the team took to social media to ask for suggestions of what new items they could add this year.

Owner Richard Quigley said: “It is really meant as a bit of fun, but the sprouts have been a real winner every year.

“This year was tougher than ever as we have pretty much been through every idea we can think of.”

After asking for suggestions via Facebook, Richard put it to a vote.

Isle of Wight County Press:

Richard said: “The two most popular suggestions were a turkey burger and battered gherkins (frickles).

“The problem was, we created our very own battered Brexit situation as the votes were so evenly split (52 to 48) that we decided to add both to the menu.”

In addition, Derrel Mooney, manager of the shop, came up with the idea of a foot long pig in a blanket.

Two County Press reporters took on the foot-long challenge, racing to see who would finish it first.

Corries is also running a 12 days of Christmas giveaway to all customers that sign up to its VIP club via Facebook.
