THE leadership at Carisbrooke College and Medina College looks set to change.

The Island Innovation Trust, which runs the two schools and sixth form, took the decision to dissolve the trust, effective from next April.

Instead of finding another organisation to fulfill the role of foundation body, the governing body for the schools has decided to make three changes.

The three proposals are that the governing body will be called the 'Isle of Wight Education Federation'. It will operate without a foundation body, and change the composition of governors at the school.

Instead of foundation governors, there will be 11 co-opted governors.

A formal consultation on the three proposals will run until January 28.

In a statement, sent out today, the trust said there would be no effect on the operation of the colleges and no costs associated with the proposal.

Executive headteacher Matthew Parr-Burman said: "I would like to thank Mark Price and all the Trustees over the years for their support and excellent work. As someone new to the Federation, it has been really heartening to see the warm welcome afforded to me by the Trustees. They have also been challenging in their desire to get the very best for young people.

"I am confident that we are now entering a new phase of our work and know that, with the support and challenge of the Governing Body, we will do the very best for young people on the Island."
