A PLANTER has been stolen from a grandson's grave in Ryde not two weeks since being placed.
Grandfather Anthony Crumplin, took to Facebook to ask the community for help in locating the stolen planter, a crime he labelled 'despicable'.
He wrote yesterday (Sunday): "[I] went to attend my grandson's grave today at Ashey Cemetery in Ryde and found this planter had been stolen.
This was only put on the grave not quite two weeks [ago].
"If anybody recognises this unusual shaped planter with white cyclamen in, please help us find this person & contact the police - crime number: 44180467351. It is a despicable crime to grave rob, but to take from a baby`s grave is something else."
A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary said: "We are appealing for witnesses and information after a flower planter left on the grave of a baby boy, was stolen over the weekend.
"The planter was emptied of flowers and taken from the grave at the Gatehouse Road Cemetery in Ryde between 12pm on December 9 and 3pm on December 16.
"If you have any information about this crime, please call 101, quoting reference 44180467351. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
