THE love between Queen Victoria and her husband Prince Albert will be marked through a new exhibition at their private family home, Osborne House, English Heritage has said.

The heritage charity said many significant anniversaries would be marked in 2019, including the birth of Queen Victoria.

Anna Eavis, English Heritage's curatorial director, said: "This year, 2019, marks 200 years since the birth of one of our most well-known monarchs, Queen Victoria, and also her husband Prince Albert.

"This enduringly fascinating couple left their mark on culture and society and created a dynasty whose influence has been felt in European affairs for more than a century.

"We will be marking their devotion to each other through a new exhibition at their private family home, Osborne House on the Isle of Wight."

This year will see the 100th anniversary of the election of Lady Nancy Astor, the first woman to sit in the House of Commons, and the signing of the Versailles Peace Treaty which concluded the First World War.

It is the 75th anniversary of D-Day, 400 years since the start of the slave trade in North America and 600 years since Joan of Navarre, widow of Henry IV, was imprisoned on charges of witchcraft and conspiracy to murder her stepson, Henry V.
