An air ambulance has landed at a Cowes business and is believed to be carrying out CPR nearby.

The air ambulance landed at around 2.30pm today (Wednesday) on maritime training company Red Ensign's property.

Marlena Ene, the training co-ordinator at Red Ensign was told the air ambulance crew were providing CPR to a resident who lives nearby.

She said: "They landed in the area to perform CPR on a local resident.

"I'm hoping its not something really bad."

Red Ensign is located in Medina Road close to where the floating bridge loads.

The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service could not provide details of the incident but confirmed they were attending a medical emergency in Cowes.

Update: The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service say a 60-year-old male has died as a result of a cardiac arrest. 

Police are on the scene and will be contacting the deceased next of kin in due course.
