THE last of the 'big four' banks in Freshwater closes on Monday and will be replaced by a Wednesday only mobile service.

Lloyds Bank, which was open for three days a week, claimed the decision was taken due to the changing ways customers are banking.

The mobile banking service will be based in The Vine public house car park, School Green Road, each Wednesday, from 10am to 11.30am, and then 12.15pm to 2.15pm.

The mobile bank was in place last week to help customers become familiar with the service.

Personal customers will be able to make deposits (£5,000 cash limit), withdraw cash (£300 daily limit or £1,000 if pre-ordered 48 hours before) and pay bills.

There will also be help for customers to use online banking and make general account or product enquiries.

The mobile branch has full disabled access.

A Lloyds Bank spokesperson said: "We made the difficult decision to close the Lloyds Bank Freshwater branch due to the changing ways customers choose to bank with us, which has resulted in the branch being used less often.

"We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause and will be speaking to customers about the new mobile branch service as well as their nearest alternative branch, which is in Newport."
