THE REGENERATION of East Cowes is one step closer this week as work is well underway on the Red Funnel car park.

It is hoped the work on the town’s central car park will provide long term parking solutions and help encourage visitors to East Cowes.

As part of the project, Red Funnel agreed to place two electricity sockets in the area for community use, bringing electric power to Kings Square.

This will enable events, exhibitions and potentially live music to be performed in the area, following the success of the Christmas market.

Cllr Karl Love said: “This development is a positive step forwards and by opening up the area, it will change the look and feel of our town completely as the ugly looking fencing will be finally removed after many years.”
