A LUCKY group of Hunnyhill students had a visit from Fast Car's car of the year.

Brading man, Richard Fox, has worked tirelessly on his Ford Focus and was delighted when it won Fast Car magazine's 2018 car of the year award.

The 34 year old said: "I have a massive following on social media and I've gained a lot of respect towards the car and myself as I've spent a lot of time and money building this car myself."

Richard, who owns the Yarbridge Inn, wanted to visit Hunnyhill Primary School as his partner's two sons, Harry McIntyre, five, and Archie McIntyre, six, were so happy about the win and had been talking about it in school.

"I want to be able to inspire the younger generation and the excitement that came from these children as they came to look at the car was amazing — so many happy faces and questions."

Richard said the 'extreme' nature of his car pulls in the crowds and was part of the reason he won the top spot.

"I'd say this car it like Marmite, you either love it or you hate it, but even the people who aren't keen seem to enjoy viewing the car and watching the build along the way.

"The best bit about it is being able to inspire the younger generation."

Richard also created a new Isle of Wight event — the Isle of Wight Takeover — which he hopes will pull thousands of Ford enthusiasts, and their families, to the Island.
