THE King Lud — in its current form— will reach the end of its journey by the end of January.

On Thursday, January 24, the Ryde pub will close for a full refurb.

When it re-opens its doors — for the second time in three months — it will be a craft pub, with managers from the mainland at the helm.

The King Lud posted on Facebook: “In the meantime, all you lovely Lud lovers, we have two weeks until closure.

“We have a great line-up of bands and events so let’s make the most of it and give the King Lud the send-off she deserves.”

Past and present staff, the customers, the regular ‘Luddites’ and all the bands and musicians who have played at the venue were thanked in the post.

Jacqui, who was manager of the pub during its untimely closure in October and who has been helping the interim managers, Ross and Kelly, said: “It is lovely we have had good notice and get to bring it to an end with decency and respect — and a chance to host a farewell party for all our regulars.

“We wish the new managers the very best of luck.”

A farewell party will be thrown at the King Lud on Friday, January 18.
