FRESHWATER Parish Council has sent out a plea for information after two swans were attacked last Saturday, January 5.

At around 3.30pm, the swans were attacked by a springer spaniel — while the owner just stood and watched, the parish council claims.

The discolouration around the swan's neck shows the place the dog grabbed the swan.

The parish council posted on Facebook: "If anyone was there and witnessed the incident please can you contact the Parish Council on 752000 or the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999.

"Please could we kindly ask everyone to keep your dogs on their leads until you get to the area where the bushes start, about 50 metres in. This will offer some protection to all birds that nest and shelter along here."
