A RYDE man was found dead at his flat by police after accidentally taking a lethal cocktail of drink and prescription drugs, an inquest was told.
The body of John Murphy, 49, was found at his home in Monkton Street on May 17 last year.
He had suffered from spinal and joint pain after having been involved in a hang gliding accident years ago.
The inquest was told Mr Murphy was 'self-medicating' with alcohol and was still taking strong pain killers.
Coroner, Caroline Sumeray, concluded Mr Murphy was a man with a long history of addiction to alcohol and prescription drugs.
She concluded his death was drug and alcohol related.
