THE ISLE of Wight Council has warned Islanders about the dangers of African Swine Fever (ASF).
ASF exclusively affects the pig population, but it highly contagious and incurable and can be transmitted through direct contact, poor sanitisation practices and processed meats.
A spokesperson from the council said: "The risk in the UK remains extremely small and there are currently no cases reported here, however it pays to be vigilant."
