CALBOURNE Parish Council may soon be called Calbourne, Newtown and Porchfield Parish Council.
Residents are being invited to give their views on the proposed new name.
While the parish council is already commonly known as Calbourne, Newtown and Porchfield, the Isle of Wight Council has received a request to officially change the name and can only do so following a consultation.
If implemented, the new title would not affect any other aspect of the running of Calbourne Parish Council and all existing wards and elected members would remain as they are.
Newport Parish Council was recently changed to Newport and Carisbrooke Parish Council following a similar process.
The Isle of Wight Council has launched a two-week consultation starting today (Monday) and closing on Monday, February 4.
Residents can comment on the proposed change in the following ways:
- Via the Isle of Wight Council website at https://www.iow.gov.uk/Council/OtherServices/Electoral-Registration/Consultation-on-Newport-Parish-Council-Name-Change/
- In writing to: Electoral Services, Isle of Wight Council, County Hall, Newport, Isle of Wight PO30 1UD
