A GIN tasting event proved just the tonic — and all in a good cause.

The Isle of Wight Distillery hosted an event in support of the Isle of Wight appeal for funding for Dementia UK Admiral Nurses.

A £300 cheque was handed over by the IW Distillery, courtesy of owner Conrad Gauntlett.

There was a talk about the history of gin, and the distilling process of the many different variations.

The 40 guests were given several different types of gin to taste, as well as canapes and nibbles.

The Isle of Wight has four Admiral Nurses, hosted at St Mary's Hospital. They provide invaluable support to families facing up to the challenges of dementia.

The next aim is to fund the re-appointment, training and salary of the Admiral Nurse hosted at Mountbatten Hospice. A committed team of fundraisers, including Lady Sally Grylls, Ron Holland, Wendy Murwill, Catherine Flury and Joe Robertson need to raise £50,000 by the end of March.
