ISLANDERS have the chance to experience an adventure 125 million years in the making with a new fossil-hunting guide from Red Funnel and GO Outdoors.

Named 'the dinosaur capital of Britain' by the Natural History Museum, the Island is one of the richest sources of dinosaur remains in Europe.

The new downloadable illustrated guide brings the history of dinosaurs to life and gives families tips and ideas for discovery on 'Dinosaur Island'.

Significant discoveries have been made in recent years by leisure hunters β€” not scientists or explorers β€” including a six-year-old boy, a nine-year-old girl and a mother-of-two.

The guide is designed to create a sense of adventure and excitement for both those living on the Island and tourists, and includes near-to-complete skeletons and illustrations.

Fran Collins, Red Funnel CEO, said: "To have this insight and understanding of prehistoric life at our fingertips is incredible and makes the Isle of Wight a very special place to explore.

"We created the guide, with GO Outdoors, to give young explorers and their families all the information they need to go out and uncover their own finds. It’s a great opportunity to get wrapped up warm and go out exploring the local bays; perfect for weekend fun."
