ICY conditions have caused cars to come off the road in multiple Isle of Wight locations this morning (Wednesday).

Emergency services were called to the Downs Road just before 7am.

A spokesperson from the Ambulance Service said they were on their way to the scene but did not think the injuries were serious.

Police are also at the scene.

A car has been flipped onto its roof in on the way into Carisbrooke.

The fire service, police and the Ambulance Service are at the scene at the junction between Whitcombe Lane and Froglands Lane after receiving the call at 7.12am.

The casualty managed to get out the vehicle and is being checked over.

The scene is being made safe by the fire service.

UPDATE: Two vehicles were involved in a collision on the main road between Sandford and Godshill this morning, causing delays.

An ambulance was on the scene.

UPDATE: Brading Down Road has been closed due to a crash in which a woman was trapped. 

Two fire appliances are on scene after being called out at 7.42am.

UPDATE: A spokesperson for the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said a female casualty had been extricated from her vehicle following the Brading Downs Road crash. She has been taken to St Mary's Hospital, although an ambulance service spokesperson said it was not believed her injuries were too serious.

The fire service spokesperson said one vehicle was involved in the crash. It had come off the road and ploughed into a hedge.

UPDATE: Another car has come off the Brading Downs Road, although no-one is believed to have been injured as paramedics have not been called to the scene. A red Citroen C3 was recovered shortly after 11am.
