Police, fire and ambulance crews have been called out after a single vehicle RTC on Bowcombe Road between Carisbrooke and Shorwell this evening (Wednesday).

A spokesperson for the fire and rescue service said two crews from Newport Fire Station had been called out to reports of a car on its roof on Bowcombe Road.

Emergency services were called out at around 6.30pm.

The occupant(s) of the car were able to get themselves out and fire crews carried out scene safety.

Police and ambulance were also called to the scene and the road is reportedly blocked while emergency services carry out their work.

UPDATE 19:16

Isle of Wight Police have reported that the road has been closed from the Waverley Pub roundabout in Carisbrooke to Shorwell while recovery of the vehicle takes place.

Minor injuries have been sustained, police said.

Isle of Wight police have said the road is now reopened.
