ISLE of Wight ingredients will be used when Michelin-starred chef Robert Thompson guest chefs on a P&O cruise ship.

He will join flagship vessel Britannia in June as a guest chef as part of the cruise line's Friends of the Cookery Club programme.

During the cruise, Robert will serve up 'some of the best foodie experiences to be found on land or sea' and hopes to inspire Britannia's guests to recreate the culinary magic once they return home.

While onboard, Robert will offer interactive masterclasses in the state-of-the-art Marco Pierre White Cookery Club where he will prepare a range of seasonal and speciality dishes, and he has pledged to take some Isle of Wight ingredients along too.

He will also host dinners where guests can enjoy a three-course meal at the chef's table, with paired wines, a Q&A session and book signing.

P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow said: "As the holiday company for anyone with an interest in food, I'm delighted that our guests will have the opportunity to meet and learn from Robert, who is a champion of seasonal local produce.

"It's not every day you rub shoulders with a Michelin-starred chef while enjoying the holiday of a lifetime and I'm sure our guests will enjoy every moment. Holidays are made of memories such as these."

Robert is an award-winning chef, who runs Thompson’s Restaurant in Newport, and was the youngest chef in the UK to be awarded a Michelin star. He is a proud ambassador for Isle of Wight ingredients.

Robert will be joining Britannia's B915 seven-night Guernsey, Belgium and The Netherlands sailing, departing June 1, 2019.
