The Isle of Wight's Island VI Form has joined Newsquest Young Reporter Scheme, working with the County Press.

To aid the new Young Reporters, a lecture on article structure and interview technique was given by Lucy Morgan, one of the newspaper's co-editors, to a group of interested students.

The scheme offers young people an invaluable opportunity to break into the world of journalism, by having the chance to write for a newspaper owned by Newsquest Media Group.

At the Island VI Form, the scheme is administered by Joseph Cody, a teacher of Media Studies.

Mr Cody said: "It was fascinating to hear about the challenges and opportunities of modern journalism from a seasoned professional.

"This is the kind of advice that it's hard to replicate in the classroom."

The Island VI Form is the second establishment to sign up for the scheme, the first being Carisbrooke's Christ the King College.
