Sandown Library is showing On Chesil Beach (15), based on the Ian McEwan novel, tonight (12) at 7pm.

Starring Saoirse Ronan, Samuel West, Emma Watson and Anne-Marie Duff, it explores unexpected shadows cast over the wedding night of a young couple in the summer of 1962, before the sexual revolution of the swinging sixties took hold. The story how the entire course of a life can be changed, by a gesture not made or a word not spoken.

Ryde Lions Cinema will screen its first film of the season on Sunday (14) at Bembridge Village Hall.
