Wilmington FCs attempts at progressing in the Kent Junior Cup have again been thwarted after Saturdays tie against Gravesend side Blackthorn was called off due to waterlogged pitch.

The Oakfield Park-based club has now taken the best part of seven weeks in its attempt to reach the third round after numerous attempts at staging the first-round tie against Diamond were postponed for the same reason.

Wilmington are now facing a fixture crisis because with almost a third of the season gone, the club has played just two league games in the South London

Alliance League.

Weather permitting the cup-tie will be played this Saturday.

But the A-team did manage to fulfil its Gravesend League match against Brookland Reserves after the fixture was hastily moved to their opponents ground.

Although David Robbins equalised a goal scored for Brooklands midway through the first-half, Wilmington conceded two goals after the interval to lose 3-1

a defeat which leaves them at the foot ofthe table.
